Isn’t it amazing how God works? In Philippians 4:19, Paul writes, “My God shall supply all of your needs,” reassuring the Philippians that God would always provide for them. They would never go hungry. They would have shelter. They would have enough.
For the past four years, one of my children has needed a specific medication. This medicine is often out of stock or backordered, yet I have always had it. My supply has run low…down to two pills at times….but I have never run out. This medicine has often required me to call around to multiple pharmacies or contact providers to reroute the prescription to a different pharmacy. It’s a lot of work yet God has always supplied.
This past week, I was again running low. I was told that the med was backordered once more and they had no idea when it would arrive. I called the next day to check on it. Same answer. I called a different pharmacy. They had some but they needed the prescription within an hour because they didn’t have much in stock. So I messaged the doctor…. and then I prayed.
The next morning, the first pharmacy who was out of stock the day before sent me a message that the prescription was ready for pickup. I stared at the screen in disbelief but the biggest shock was when I drove to pick it up. The pharmacy tech at the counter handed me a larger container and said, “Here is the 90 day supply.” I asked her to repeat herself because there is no way I heard that correctly. In four years of picking up this medicine, I have never ONCE gotten a 3 month supply at one time. Yet here it was….the same medicine that wasn’t even on the shelf 24 hours earlier was now in my hand. My child had enough not just for one month but for the next three months. I burst into tears right there at the counter and exclaimed, “This is only by the grace of God!” The tech gave me a huge smile and replied, “Look what God did!!”
Friends, God is able to do more than we could possibly ask or imagine! (Ephesians 3:20)He is a big God and we too often keep our prayers small when we need to remember that He is the Creator of the Universe and the Creator of you and me. He knows our needs, the needs of our children and the desires of our hearts. It may not be on our timetable but He always provides. This year, pray bigger. Pray bolder. Pray about those dreams that He has placed on your heart. See how He provides in the most extraordinary ways and builds your faith in the process. He is able.
